David T. Smith

Nose
A bouquet of gentle, floral aromas: violet and raspberry, as well as earthy orris root.

Palate
A little pepperiness to start, before soft liquorice and the citrusy, floral flavours of jasmine and orange blossom. Elegant and graceful with lots of high perfumed notes.

Finish
A lingering liquorice sweetness, mellow earthiness, and notes of flower petals.

Comments
This gin would work well in a Ramos Gin Fizz, with its floral notes the perfect complement to the orange flower water.

Score

7.8

Nose
Warming spice, waxy juniper and gentle citrus, with a touch of minerality.

Palate
Light mouthfeel. Cucumber salad with barbequed chicken in a garlicky marinade. Parsley, lemon, bright juniper and fragrant spice from coriander. A slight creaminess there, like lemon custard.

Finish
Sweet spice and pine notes see this out with a touch of peppery heat.

Comments
It shows its ABV alongside some lovely flavours. A Martini with the right vermouth could play up its herbal notes.

Score

8.4
