Nose
Earthy liquorice, coriander seed, citrus, and muted juniper.

Palate
A balanced sweetness gradually builds on the palate and is nicely contrasted with crunchy, vegetal notes of coriander seed and leaf. This has a good intensity of flavour, with a gentle spiciness that appears towards the end.

Finish
A soft creaminess on the finish is paired with notes of sweet spice and pine.

Comments
A fine example of an Old Tom with a good balance of intensity and sweetness.

8.2

Nose
Like dough for Christmas biscuits: cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange and lemon zest. Herbal coriander and some piney juniper.

Palate
It has a honeyed sweetness and a luscious texture. More baking spices and citrus zest, with decent juniper character. Like those biscuits have been baked and dusted with icing sugar.

Finish
Sweet spice notes cling on as it fades slowly.

Comments
It errs on the sweet side, even for an Old Tom, but has enough spice to keep the sweetness in check.

Score

8.6
