David T. Smith

Nose
Plump blackberries and bright, green leafy notes of nettle. A floral combination of rose, violet and lavender.

Palate
Baked apple with caramelised brown sugar and cinnamon. This initial sweetness disappears and is replaced with cilantro, angelica and almond.

Finish
Really coats the mouth, leaving a citrusy oiliness and tingling warmth.

Comments
A punchy gin with plenty of pepper and citrus. Along with its oiliness, this bodes well for how the gin will retain its character when mixed.

Score

7.8

Felicity Murray

Nose
Deep forests. Lighter lemon and lime aromas and a touch of peppermint follow earthy notes with juniper and pine.

Palate
Sweet and sour, with an oily and full mouthfeel. A complex mix of bittersweet orange and lemon peel zest with chilli pepper and arrowroot.

Finish
Dry and lingering. Sweet and fruity.

Comments
An interesting and unusual take on a gin style that would mix well with some of the new and interesting flavoured tonic waters now on the market.

Score

7.2
