A husband and wife duo have created a gin range with low sugar levels for diabetes sufferers to enjoy the gin experience without the worry.
Co-founder Matt Postlethwaite was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2013. Along with his wife Lynsey, the couple looked into their own diet and decided on healthier choices to cut sugar from their diet.
After years of tasting, comparing and studying the gin production process, the duo decided to create their own range of gins, thus the No. 186 premium gin collection was born.
All three varietals are designed to have minimal amounts of natural sugar, including no artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
The three distinct expressions in the range are: Signature, Berries and Honey, and Passionfruit and Vanilla.
Lynsey Postlethwaite commented: “There are around 4.3 million people in the UK who have some form of diabetes. We created this range of gins because we want to encourage people, who are living with any type of diabetes, that it is possible to enjoy life’s little luxuries, such as your favourite tipple, without worrying about your sugar intake.
“Our gins have been specifically created to be either sugar-free or low in natural sugars, which can be enjoyed by those who are simply making healthier life choices or have to watch their sugar intake for medical reasons.”
In addition to the gin range, No. 186 also donates 2,000 litres of water to global water charity, Water for Kids, for every bottle of gin purchased.
