Following its popularity from its original release, Salcombe Distilling Co. has produced a further release of its limited edition cask aged gin titled Finisterre.
Since its initial release in 2018, this next batch has been maturing for three years in American oak Fino sherry cask.
The expression is the latest in the brand’s Victuallers Edition series.
Finisterre is produced in collaboration with Bodegas Tradición, one of the most respected sherry houses in Spain. The gin is described as a super-premium gin, with its name inspired by the rock-bound peninsula on Spain’s west coast.
The producer has described the expression as having aromas of orange blossom and notes of sweet, dried citrus peel and warm fruit on the palate.
Commenting during the product’s initial launch, general manager of Bedegas Tradición said: “We share the same passion and dynamism as Salcombe Distilling Co. to only create exceptional produce, so were delighted they selected one of our beautiful casks in which to age their fantastic gin.”
Angus Lugsdin, Salcombe co-founder, added: : “We were honoured to work with the prestigious Bodegas Tradición to create this limited batch of cask aged gin. The fresh citrus notes are tempered through the cask maturation process which takes has taken three years, creating wonderful candied citrus aromas and moreish saline notes from the aged Fino. The result is a sophisticated and elegant gin with great character and depth of flavour.”
Finisterre is available in a 50cl bottle at an RRP OF £50 from Salcombe Gin’s website, as well as its stores in Salcombe and Dartmouth.
