David T. Smith

Nose
Light and fragrant with a definite confectionary note. Bold aromas of vanilla and citrus sherbert that almost “fizzes” in the nostrils!

Palate
Notes of crystallised violet with liquorice and aniseed make this reminiscent of an old-fashioned sweet shop. Sweetness is followed by notes of apple, pear, and a more dry woodiness.

Finish
A clean finish with a lasting earthiness and a touch of sweetness.

Comments
A particularly unusual gin, but one that is in balance. It would work well in a Bramble.

Score

7.4

Nose
Pancakes with bacon, maple syrup, banana ice cream, and a touch of soy sauce. Demerara sugar with a hint of sweet rice pudding.

Palate
Dominant brown-sugar sweetness that turns into pear drops and tinned peaches. A hint of black cherry and a leafy, peppery note.

Finish
Hints of cherries, maple syrup and sweet dark chocolate, with a bit of a spicy hum.

Comments
While I would have liked to see a bit more juniper, the unusual profile of this gin was fascinating. One to mix with cola!

Score

8.0
