Cocktail of the week: Edinburgh Gin’s Orange and Basil Fizz

Edinburgh Gin Orange and Basil Gin Fizz

Edinburgh Gin has a new flavour on the market! Its Orange & Basil gin is made with sweet Valencian orange peel and fresh vapour-infused basil leaf.

The Scottish distiller claims the combination of crisp citrus and slightly savoury basil makes a great spring drink – and we’re inclined to agree!

One of its signature serves is the Orange and Basil Fizz: a zesty, thirst-quenching drink that is ideal for warmer days. It is made with gomme syrup, a sweetener containing Arabic gum which can create a smoother texture and alcohol flavour in a cocktail than sugar syrup.

Orange and Basil Gin Fizz

  • 50ml Edinburgh Gin Orange & Basil
  • 12.5ml fresh orange juice
  • 12.5ml fresh lemon juice
  • 25ml Gomme syrup
  • Sparkling water
  • 1 basil leaf, to garnish

Combine the gin, fresh juices and gomme syrup in a cocktail shaker. Shake and double strain into a highball glass. Add ice, top up with sparkling water, and garnish with a large basil leaf.

Edinburgh Gin Orange & Basil is available for £28 from, Amazon, Booths and John Lewis & Partners. It is also being listed with easyJet, and will be exclusive to the airline within the travel retail channel for seven months.
