Cocktail of the week: Whitley Neill’s Spice Route Mule

Whitley Neill Oriental Spiced Gin - Spice Route Mule cocktail copa serve

Earlier this month, Whitley Neill announced the launch of its Oriental Spiced Gin. Created at the City of London Distillery, the gin is inspired by founder Johnny Neill’s travels to the Indian subcontinent. To celebrate the launch, our cocktail of the week is one of its featured serves: the Spice Route Mule. It is a take on the Gin Mule, made with lime juice and ginger beer. The Oriental Spiced Gin’s bold botanicals, including cumin, star anise, saffron and turmeric, make it a great match for ginger beer. If you want to bring down the ABV of this cocktail, swap the Crabbies for a non-alcoholic ginger beer.

Spice Route Mule

  • 50ml Whitley Neill Oriental Spiced Gin
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 20ml sugar syrup
  • 2-4 mint leaves
  • Crabbies Ginger Beer
  • Fresh mint leaves and lime wedge, to garnish

Add the gin, lime juice, mint leaves and sugar syrup to a shaker filled with large cubes of ice. Shake for 20-30 seconds. Strain the liquid into a copa glass filled with ice. Top up with ginger beer. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a wedge of lime.
