Cocktail of the week: Fairytale of Old York

Fairytale of Old York Christmas cocktail from York Gin

There’s now less than a month to go until Christmas. In our book, that means it’s time to get the decorations up, pull on your best festive PJs, put on a Christmas film, and pour yourself a warming winter drink! This delicious concoction from York Gin, the Fairytale of Old York, pays homage to the iconic Christmas song ‘Fairytale of New York’ by Irish band The Pogues. For added festive sparkle, garnish with edible gold leaf!

Method

First, sugar-rim your cocktail glass. Pour some white granulated sugar into a saucer. Wet the rim of your cocktail glass with lime juice, then firmly place it, straight down, into the sugar to coat.
To make the cocktail, add the gin, grenadine and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry and edible gold leaf/foil, if using.
