Nose
Deep ochre in colour with aromas of red fruit, citrus and juniper, followed by hints of sweet wine and herbal notes.

Palate
Lots of spiced fruit with notable ginger and turmeric, along with both black and green cardamom; a cornucopia of spice! These notes develop into woody vanilla and black pepper.

Finish
The finish itself has notes of menthol pepper, cubeb berries, grains of paradise, and a little alcohol heat.

Comments
A powerful aged gin with lots of spice, this would make a strong gin and tonic.

8.0

Nose
White white-infused chicken gravy with grape acidity and bouquet garni herbs. A smoky edge, like toasted hazelnuts.

Palate
A bold herbal note of saffron, with juniper, gentian and slightly bitter orange. A faint charred oak note remains here.

Finish
Eucalyptus freshness and more gentian bitterness. Very smooth for the ABV, with little heat.

Comments
I’m amazed by the complexity in this. I feel it would work well to pep up a drink with red vermouth, such as a Negroni.

Score

8.5
