Whitley Neill may be well known for its vast rainbow of flavoured gins, but it has gone back to basics with its latest edition: the Connoisseur’s Cut. Going on sale in Waitrose this month, the gin has been distilled at the City of London Distillery and bottled at a higher ABV of 47%, which the brand says emphasises its juniper and citrus notes. One of the brand’s recommended serves for this top-notch tipple is a Ruby Martini, elevated with the addition of grapefruit. If you don’t have grapefruit bitters to hand, another citrus variety would suffice.
- 60ml Whitley Neill Connoisseur’s Cut Gin
- 20ml dry white vermouth
- 10ml grapefruit juice
- 2 drops grapefruit bitters
- Fresh grapefruit peel and a cherry, to garnish
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with large cubes of ice and gently stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a curl of fresh grapefruit peel and a cherry.
