Masons of Yorkshire has revealed the first expressions in a new series of special-edition gins: Pink Grapefruit and Cucumber, and Distiller’s Strength.
Harking back to the distillery’s roots, the Distiller’s Strength gin is based on Masons’ original gin recipe. It features an increased botanical blend and is bottled at a punchier 53% ABV, for a gin that Masons says is packed with orange citrus, warming spice and bold juniper.
It is one of the first releases to come out of Masons’ new gin laboratory, part of its new distillery in North Yorkshire that opened in early 2020.
Karl Mason, who co-founded the distillery with wife Cathy, explained: “Masons was founded with a simple mission to create gin the way it should be, with more character, more flavour and uncompromising quality.
“Our new Distiller’s Strength showcases an intense blend of expertly chosen botanicals and natural ingredients, with no gimmicks, no shortcuts and no compromises. This special edition is a credit to the craftsmanship and expertise of the Masons team and we’re continually experimenting in our new state-of-the-art gin lab to develop unique flavours to excite Masons fans and gin drinkers.”
Meanwhile, Masons’ Pink Grapefruit and Cucumber special edition is a clear flavoured gin, made without artificial flavours or colours. Masons hopes the gin will be a refreshing accompaniment to the warmer spring and summer evenings to come, served with tonic water, a citrus garnish and plenty of ice.
Both the Distiller’s Strength and Pink Grapefruit and Cucumber special-edition gins can be purchased now from masonsofyorkshire.com.
