Nose
A mellow, honeyed sweetness with the woody spiciness of nutmeg and cassia, along with anise and candied citrus peel.

Palate
Treacly tannin notes with anise and gingerbread make this spicy. Floral notes of meadowsweet and bison grass add higher, sweeter flavours.

Finish
Sweet citrus lingers with a touch of crème brûlée sprinkled with aniseed dust.

Comments
An indulgent and tasty spirit. Some may prefer more juniper, but this has a distinct style and sufficient complexity.

Score

8.2

Nose
Slightly overripe pears, Medjool dates, light orange citrus and crushed fresh mint. There’s also a creamy nuttiness to it, like Edam cheese.

Palate
That nuttiness comes first, followed by a long, strong liquorice note which is woody rather than sweet. A little bit of orange citrus comes later.

Finish
Bitter orange notes and a little spiciness fade this out.

Comments
An intriguing gin that sets itself apart. I think it would stand up well to a mix with ginger ale, perhaps with a splash of bitters.

Score

8.4
