Nose
Sweet, soft, and subtle floral notes are joined by citrus peel, lime leaf, and hints of coffee and chocolate.

Palate
Some sweetness on the palate, but this is also very earthy with lots of orris, liquorice, and gentian, as well as smoked pine notes. These are followed by lovely, slightly more savoury, notes.

Finish
Lingering oily notes of orange and clementine combine with more woody spice.

Comments
A rather fun gin that, with a bit of imagination, could make some wonderful drinks with this.

8.8

Nose
Anise notes from fennel seed, orris root, orange peel, rich resinous juniper and a slight spice note.

Palate
It’s got a slightly sweet-smoky character like a barbecue marinade. A continuing anise/fennel note, slightly sweet citrus, and more bold juniper.

Finish
Drying spiciness, hints of cracked black pepper, and a little alcohol warmth.

Comments
This has all the hallmarks of a classic gin with a lovely twist. An aromatic tonic would work well here, as would ginger ale with a splash of Angostura bitters.

Score

9.0
