We’re returning to those January themes of self-care and moderation with our cocktail of the week. The Minch Martini, devised by the Isle of Harris Distillery, is a lower-ABV version of this typically punchy cocktail. It combines Isle of Harris gin with herbal tea and bergamot liqueur. Where lemon verbena leaves are hard to come by, a herbal green tea works well too.

Minch Martini
Ingredients
For the cocktail:
- 25ml Isle of Harris Gin
- 50ml lemon verbena tea
- 10ml bergamot liqueur
- Lemon twist, to garnish
For the lemon verbena tea:
- 10g lemon verbena leaves
- 1,000ml filtered water
Method
To make the lemon verbena tea, steep the leaves in filtered water for five hours. Strain the liquid into a bottle and store, chilled, for up to four days.
To build the cocktail, pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass and add cubed ice. Stir and strain into a Martini glass or coupette. Garnish with a lemon twist.
