In The Welsh Wind Distillery is paying homage to an influential Welshman with its relaunched Eccentric Gin collection.
The six gins are distilled with flavours to represent to quirks of Wales’ cities and coastline, with each bottle giving a nod to the people, places and ideas behind it.
Originally inspired Dr William Price, a Victorian doctor from Llantrisant whose scientific research and wisdom challenged the era’s accepted norms, the Eccentric brand was acquired by In The Welsh Wind in March 2020. It made the decision to give the brand a revamp, with a new design to complement its innovative flavours.

The range includes: Limbeck, featuring blue ginger, citrus and tarragon and aged in French burgundy casks; Madam Geneva, a classic London dry gin with angelica and wild sunflower; Young Tom, a sweet, floral, malty spirit distilled from IPA; Pembrokeshire Pinky, named after the flower of Pembrokeshire and featuring cherry and lemongrass; Cardiff Dry, a juniper and citrus-heavy gin distilled in honour of Wales’ capital city; and Dewi Sant, inspired by the Welsh coastline and featuring herbs, fennel and citrus.
In addition to the gins, the Eccentric spirits range also includes Black Batch Rum, lightly spiced and aged in heavily charred American oak casks.
Ellen Wakelam, co-founder of In The Welsh Wind Distillery, said: “We really wanted to be creative and innovative with the Eccentric collection, which is our first In The Welsh Wind collection, yet remain true to the spirit of these gins which already have a following.

“Our aim was to give this quirky but alluring range a new lease of life to complement the amazing blend of botanicals that fans of Eccentric know and love.
“The collection pays perfect homage to Dr Price, who was the inspiration behind the Eccentric collection. He was a true Welsh eccentric and yet someone who made a difference in Wales. We were attracted to how he lived by his principles in an era where convention was everything. That reflects our ethos at In The Welsh Wind: although we are respectful of tradition we refuse to be constrained by it and will always look to see how we can bring creativity into everything we can do.”
