Unicorn Tears releases new full-strength gins – and they still shimmer

The new Unicorn Tears Gin expressions

Unicorn Tears Gin is hoping to capture a new crowd of drinkers with two new full-strength gins and a fresh bottle design.

The brand is relaunching with Classic and Raspberry Pink expressions – both 37.5% ABV – which retain the ‘shimmer’ for which its original gin liqueurs were known and prized.

Created by and its Mythical Spirits label, Unicorn Tears’ gin liqueurs launched in 2015 and sold more than 150,000 bottles in the UK at retailers including John Lewis, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

The new-recipe, vegan-friendly gins are made with botanicals including juniper, mandarin, almond, raspberry, coriander and pepper, plus exotic additions of horned melon, Buddha’s hand and star fruit.

Kristian Bromley, managing director of and Mythical Spirits, said: “We were overwhelmed by the popularity of the original Unicorn Tears range. The originality of our concept and the Instagrammability of the shimmering liquid prompted a massive trend in gin liqueurs and shimmering spirits which has rippled through the industry and dominated supermarket shelves and drinks cabinets across the world. We didn’t mean to start a trend and we’re sorry about some of the copycats who followed us.

“Five years after it all started, we’re back to offer something new and unique again. We’ve improved our emotion-harvesting techniques during the sadness of 2020 and we can’t wait to offer our customers’ drinks cabinets something fun, unusual and delicious this festive season.

“As well as working with our fantastic retail partners across the UK, we’re all set for global expansion in 2021, with plans to bring Unicorn Tears Gin to Europe, the Far East and the US.”

Unicorn Tears Gins are available exclusively from in 50cl bottles with a special launch price of £24.99 (RRP £29.99) and a 5cl miniature for £6.99 (RRP £8.99).
