Boë has become the latest gin brand to enter the ready-to-drink (RTD) market with a duo of pre-mixed gin and lemonade cans.
The Boë Violet with Rose Lemonade and Boë Passionfruit with Sicilian Lemonade are both 5.5% ABV, and with fewer than 80 calories per 250ml can, they are among the lowest-calorie offerings in the category. They’re currently available through Boë’s website.
The brand, known for its colourful range and fruity flavours, conducted a survey earlier this year which found that lemonade was fast catching up to tonic as a mixer choice for gin, and had actually surpassed the classic partner among younger drinkers (aged 18 to 34).
This year has also seen it release its first full-strength flavoured gin, Apple & Lime, designed to work better with lemonade than tonic.
Carlo Valente, director at Boë Gin, said: “We’ve worked hard to ensure that our new cans are not just low on calories, but also bursting with flavour. They are a standout addition to the RTD market and look great on shelf, too.
“We know that a lot of customers already enjoy our gin with lemonade, so these cans are an enticing combination and the perfect accompaniment to any home bar this Christmas.”
The ready-to-drink category has been a winner in the UK amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as many people looked for pre-mixed and portable options that could be drunk outside at socially distanced gatherings, or that would enable them to enjoy bar-quality mixes at home.
