Nose
An earthy nose with aromas of violet, liquorice and orris. Lemon and lime marmalade develop over time.

Palate
Very silky in texture – almost buttery – with a little sweet spice and then plenty of oiliness and floral coriander seed.

Finish
A relatively short finish of juniper and rose, concluding with a refreshing stalkiness.

Comments
A botanically intense Old Tom that is less sweet than many others and would work really well in a Gibson.

Score

8.1

Nose
Sweet strawberry jam, then spiced plum compote with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Palate
There’s more juniper and baking spice, with a menthol coolness which turns into liquorice and an orange-citrus note, like an orange marmalade glaze on a cake.

Finish
oft, with a herbal note appearing alongside the juniper.

Comments
What seemed sticky-sweet at first turned out to be really light and refreshing. I could sip this over ice or with a touch of light tonic – I don’t want to drown something so delicate!

Score

8.7
