Phoebe Calver 8.2
Nose: A bouquet of freshly picked flowers, the scent you get on your hands from the stem, then moving to rich fruity notes.
Palate: The more earthy notes from the flowers have become strong powdered rosewater, making it quite heavily perfumed. This is met by the rich red fruit and a little lemon zest that stops it becoming too sickly.
Finish: Rosewater makes way for lemon on a medium finish.
Comments: I’d really enjoy sipping this with an ice cube, as rosewater is one of my favourite things!
David T. Smith 8.1
Nose: Floral and fruity on the nose with aromas of orris and cut flowers: slightly stalky, vegetal notes before more perfumed rose.
Palate: Elegant and sophisticated rose notes with a mix of perfume and a light jamminess, reminiscent of Turkish Delight. This is complemented by notes of lemon and an earthy, sherbet-like character of violets.
Finish: Lingering resinous pepper alongside earthy citrus.
Comments: The rose comes through, but does not overwhelm. A good choice for an Aviation or French ‘75.
