Sipsmith becomes first gin partner for Wimbledon

Sipsmith Gin, considered a pioneer of the UK craft gin scene, has announced a partnership with another British great: the Wimbledon tennis championships.

Cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the world-famous British Grand Slam is set to return in 2021 – with Sipsmith as its first global gin partner. It joins the ranks of other Championships sponsors including Pimms and Robinsons.

Fairfax Hall, Sipsmith co-founder, said: “It is a genuine honour to become one of Wimbledon’s exclusive partners. We have shared a commitment to quality, integrity and legacy creation, with people at the heart of all that we do. These values have undoubtedly led Wimbledon to become a pinnacle of international sport, and Sipsmith to have become a global benchmark for great-quality gin.”

Mike Desmond, commercial and media director at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sipsmith to the family of official partners of the Championships. Both Wimbledon and Sipsmith are heritage brands with a commitment to excellence and the ambition to share our stories globally. Gin and tonic is synonymous with the UK summer and we’re looking forward to seeing the exciting plans Sipsmith have in store to celebrate our partnership and delight our guests at the Championships for summer 2021.”

The partnership with Wimbledon is the latest chapter in Sipsmith’s story of continuing growth and prominence. The brand has grown by 72 per cent throughout 2020 despite the challenges posed by Covid-19. In the past five years, the brand has grown globally by 61.9 per cent and in the UK by 52.9 per cent, far above the category average (17.4 per cent, according to drinks market analysts IWSR).

Sipsmith is giving two people the chance to win tickets to next year’s Wimbledon championships, as well as a year’s supply of Sipsmith gin – find out more at sipsmith.com/wimbledon-competition.
