Craft distillery Afterthought Spirits is adding a twist to its gin collection with three flavoured expressions.
The West Sussex producer has launched the limited-edition expressions – Summer Dry, Pink and Secret Garden – under its Professors Club label.
The new gins, all 42% ABV, follow the success of its original Professors Club spirits, Twisted Gin Original and Twisted Gin Navy Strength. Afterthought says the new gins use the same key botanicals, but with “twists” to create different flavours.
Professors Club Pink is infused with strawberries after distillation, which gives it a rich strawberry flavour and a rosy hue, and would pair well with tonic or lemonade. The vapour-infused Professors Club Secret Garden is flavoured with hints of lavender, mint and hibiscus – Afterthought recommends pairing with orange juice and a lime wedge garnish. Professors Club Summer Dry is twisted with grapefruit and lemon and could be mixed with tonic or pineapple juice for a smooth summer sip.
The launch of the new gins follows a bumper 2020 so far for Afterthought Spirits – year-on-year sales are up by 1,000 per cent compared with last year, which the company puts in part down to the coronavirus lockdown.
Doug Walford, founder of Afterthought Spirits Company, said: “We are excited to bring some new ‘ginnovation’ to the fast-growing flavoured gin market. These new gins have been ‘twisted’ with inventive flavour combinations, designed to be perfect drinks pairings for sunny summer days.”
The three new Professors Club Twisted Gins are all sealed in custom-designed Wade ceramic bottles. They cost £29.99 for a 50cl bottle and are available from the Afterthoughts Spirits website and from Amazon.
