Cocktail of the week

This week we’ve got the perfect thing for those of you missing your Friday night out with friends, with a new take on the classic Cosmopolitan: the Cottonopolis.

The Cottonopolis still has the sweet and sour Cosmopolitan flavor combination that you know and love, but with a little more citrus intensity, and a marmaladey twist. The Thomas Dakin gin that takes the place of vodka here is also packed with botanicals, and makes for a mouthwatering, fresh cocktail.

This is the ideal recipe for the long almost-summer nights ahead, and will get you in the party spirit wherever you’re spending lockdown.

Cottonopolis

Ingredients

– 35ml Thomas Dakin Gin

– 20ml Cointreau

– 1 tsp marmalade

– 2 lime wedges, squeezed

– 30ml cranberry juice

– A few drops of Peychaud or Angostura bitters (optional)

– Twist of orange peel

Method

Chill a large Martini-style glass with ice and remove. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake hard with ice (they could also be stirred with ice in a measuring jug). While pouring into the glass (without ice), use a tea strainer to remove any bits from the marmalade. Garnish with an orange peel twist.
