Salcombe Gin is set to create the world’s first crowdsourced limited-edition gin via Instagram Live, to generate community spirit amid the UK’s coronavirus lockdown.
In one of the most inventive events yet to help ease the strain of social distancing, the Devon distiller is calling on gin lovers to join its master distiller Jason Nickels live on Thursday, 9 April at 7pm to co-create a gin.
During the event Jason will explain the distillation process and share insights on creating a balanced gin. Viewers can tune into @Salcombegin to interact with Jason, choose their favourite botanical and vote on the final recipe for the spirit.
Those watching will also be invited to name the new gin, which will be available to pre-order in 50cl bottles for £37.50 via the Salcombe Gin website following the event. All proceeds will go to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.
Jason said: “It is vital while we are all faced with these uncertain times that we stay connected and continue to lift each other’s spirits. With this live distillation we want people to get together and have some fun while also creating a great-tasting new gin, which can be enjoyed at home.
“We have received an incredible response to our complimentary hand sanitiser for health care and public services and it is important to us that we continue to support the amazing staff and volunteers who are working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
