Self-isolation getting you down? We’re here to help.
With more of us getting into the habit of spending our days inside, we need something to stave off the boredom. Luckily, the saying really is true: necessity is the mother of invention. We needed something to rescue us from tedium, and the world of gin responded! We’ve compiled some of our favourite cocktail recipes you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home, and give you the perfect opportunity to perfect your mixology skills. What’s more, you can order the ingredients online and have them delivered straight to your mixing station…
Marylebone G&T
Our first recipe comes from award-winning tonic and mixer brand Double Dutch, and is their mouthwatering, citrusy twist on a classic Gin and Tonic. The ingredients you’ll need are as follows:
50ml Citrus Gin
Double Dutch Indian Tonic Water
A wedge of pink grapefruit
Simply mix, garnish, and you’re away.
Due Diligence
This cocktail from Absolut Vodka mixes flavours old and new, to make a truly tempting drink. For this you’ll need:
2 parts Absolut Elyx
1 part Elderflower Liqueur
1 part lemon juice
1 pinch dill
2 parts tonic water
Cucumber slices
Muddle the cucumber, swizzle with crushed ice, top with the tonic and garnish with more cucumber slices. This would work equally well with vodka or gin.
Honey I’m Home
Top marks for cocktail-naming go to Caorunn Gin with this sweet and zesty recipe that makes the perfect drink to curl up on the sofa with. Ingredients:
50ml Caorunn Raspberry
25ml lime juice
1.5tsp honey
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Double strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with lime zest.
Berry Delight
This is another from Double Dutch, and blends sharp lemon, sweet pomegranate and basil. With the combination of warm berry, acidic citrus and gin, you won’t be able to resist a second one of these. You’ll need to get your hands on:
50ml gin
15ml lemon juice
Double Dutch Pomegranate & Basil
20ml Chambord
Raspberries
Again, this is a fairly simple one: mix, with plenty of ice, and garnish with raspberries and a twist of lemon peel.
Apricot Jam Passion
This one from Sipsmith promises brighter days ahead, and will remind you that summer’s on its way. This’ll remind you of cocktails past, but with a contemporary twist. You’ll need:
30ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
2tsp sieved apricot jam
30ml passionfruit juice
10ml lime juice
Apricot or passionfruit half
Add all ingredients, minus the apricot or passionfruit half, into a cocktail shaker, and shake well. Double strain into an ice-filled glass, and garnish with an apricot cut into a fan, or the passionfruit half.
