Edinburgh Gin goes full-strength in new flavoured gins

Edinburgh Gin has announced two full-strength additions to its range of spirits.

The Gooseberry and Elderflower Gin and Raspberry Gin, both bottled at 40% ABV, join the producer’s successful range of gins and gin liqueurs and will be on sale from March.

Created with a London Dry-style base, the Gooseberry and Elderflower expression marries tart gooseberries with fragrant elderflower for a tangy and refreshing gin, while the Raspberry Gin – a full-strength iteration of the distiller’s popular Raspberry Gin Liqueur – is distilled with five traditional botanicals alongside fresh raspberries and raspberry leaves.

These releases coincide with new IRI figures which show that the off-trade gin market in the UK was worth £1.1bn in 2019, with most spirit sales gains coming from flavoured gins and gin liqueurs.

Neil Mowat, UK marketing director of Ian Macleod Distillers, which owns Edinburgh Gin, said: “2019 was a big year for Edinburgh Gin as we established ourselves within the premium full-strength flavoured gin category. We’re looking to continue this progress in 2020 with the launch of our sophisticated full-strength Gooseberry and Elderflower and Raspberry products that are perfect for the warmer months.

“The new products reflect our commitment to explore the best ingredients and most wonderful flavour combinations, particularly as the flavoured gin category continues to grow.”

Both new Edinburgh Gin expressions will be sold in 70cl bottles with a recommended price of £28. The Gooseberry and Elderflower Gin will be available in the on-trade and selected retailers from 13 March and the Raspberry Gin will be available exclusively from Amazon from 9 March.
