Sam Coyne – 8.5
Nose: Juniper and lemon peel, before savoury cracked black pepper. A gentle floral hint is in there.
Palate: Delivers a robust juniper and orange zest. There’s a creaminess to the mouthfeel that adds a real luxury sensation. Towards the end there’s a pepperiness to it.
Finish: The pepper note proves lasting, although there’s a freshness from the juniper as well.
Comments: Has a little bit of intrigue too. One of those that you’ll always go back to when looking to make a good G&T.
David T. Smith – 8.9
Nose: A lively citrus nose accompanied by hazelnut and a wisp of smoked paprika.
Palate: A juicy, slightly oily start with a complexity that gradually grows. Very classic in style: a hearty dose of juniper is followed by the punchy citrus pepperiness of the coriander.
Finish: Lemon marmalade adds a jammy and slightly sweet finish that lingers on the tongue.
Comments: A nicely made example of a traditional London Dry Gin with just enough complexity to capture the attention.
