David T. Smith

Nose
Rich, deep, and fruity with the sweetness of a port or sherry. Spiced aromas and a resinous quality.

Palate
A luxurious mouthfeel. Sweet with  vanilla and cinnamon, and gradually reveals botanical complexity. Cherries and other red berries are joined by hints of orange peel.

Finish
Lingering notes of toffee and wood, with resinous cedar and black pepper.

Comments
A great example of a balanced, matured gin. This would be pleasant to sip over ice or mixed in a Sweet Martini.

Score

8.6

Nose
Gentle spices including cinnamon and nutmeg. A dash of ginger too. Fresh florals and vanilla.

Palate
Juniper, coriander and citrus, before the cask influence takes over. Sweet with vanilla and candied ginger. Orange oil and peel. Gets a little peppery.

Finish
Long with the prickling sensation and more of the orange oil.

Comments
Classy stuff. A great example of cask matured gin. A sipper for sure. For the cocktail inclined, the orange note will serve a Negroni perfectly.

Score

8.8
