Sam Coyne – 7.6
Nose: Spiced – could easily be in a bakery at this point. Fresh focaccia. Juniper comes through near the end.
Palate: Rich, yet spicy. Punchy too. Orange peel and honeyed barley. Lavender. Juniper plays the role of extra here.
Finish: Long – more of the piney juniper than you got immediately on the palate.
Comments: Dynamic, with lots going on. The palate is a little all over the place, but it stands up nicely in tonic. Drink in a G&T with lots of ice and a skewered garnish of crystal ginger.
Phoebe Calver – 8.0
Nose: Prominent cinnamon is there from the off, as well as a herbal edge, maybe thyme, joining the party and juniper rounding it up.
Taste: More spices kick in to join to create a really rich and punchy combination. There’s an orange tang and sweetness, met with the herbs from earlier which give it a deliciously bitter twist.
Finish: A long finish with peppery spice remaining.
Comments: Exactly what I would like from a gin, will definitely enjoy this in a G&T with a slice of grapefruit.
