Sam Coyne – 8.5
Nose: Floral juniper – imagine yourself in an country garden. Just a stone’s throw away however is mound of earth.
Palate: A gentle floral opening that is balanced out with a confident voice of juniper. Fruit flavours – mostly on the tropical side – come through too; banana and berries especially. Herbal – sage and coriander to close.
Finish: A little fleeting, but on the fruitier side of things.
Comments: Classy – control of flavours. Could make a great hedgerow Bramble?
Phoebe Calver – 8.1
Nose: Floral but with a cinnamon stick floating in there, it’s almost festive and approaching chai latte territory which I am down for.
Taste: The cinnamon is still there and it’s warming and incredibly smooth on the tongue but the juniper makes sure that it is recognisably gin, while keeping its herbal edge.
Finish: One of the smoothest finished of the bunch.
Comments: A really drinkable combination of fruit and spice.
