Sir Edmond BV
Price per bottle: ££
David T Smith – 8.9
Nose: Indulgent and rich with decadent, plump fruity notes of peaches, strawberries, and cream.
Taste: A rich, fruity creaminess, as well as vanilla, that really fills the mouth and is followed by notes of flambé orange.
Finish: More orange on the finish with a hint of sappy cedar and honey.
Comments: A marvellous example of a contemporary gin that is very easy to sip; it would work wonders in a Ramos Gin Fizz or a French ‘75.
Felicity Murray – 9.0
Nose: Rich and enticing, chocolate with nuts and raisins, dark forest fruits, liquorice, ginger and juniper.
Palate: Full flavoured with bitter cocoa, vanilla and ground coffee beans mingle with juicy oranges, macadamia nuts and rich fruitcake flavours.
Finish: Long, dry and deliciously chocolaty with a pinch of pepper. Not too sweet, leaving you wanting more.
Comments: This unusual gin could make an interesting cocktail base, but serve neat over ice cubes with a sprig of mint or orange slice to garnish.
