Nose
Butterscotch and menthol, somewhat reminiscent of Murray Mints, along with creamy notes of oak and just a hint of cedar.

Taste
A pleasant sweetness to start, with flavours of honey and maple followed by cedar and sappy pine. Great complexity with some floral, piney and woody notes.

Finish
Honey and heather with Scotch whisky, black pepper, and a floral sweetness.

Comments
An excellent example of an aged gin; the juniper shines through, while the wood adds a mellow sweetness.

Score

8.8

Nose
Toasted bread with butter and a thick layer of ginger marmalade, then coriander, sweet spices and liquorice.

Palate
A sweet, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. Rich, fruit mingles with juniper and brown sugar.

Finish
Silky and sweet but not cloying, pleasant fruity length.

Comments
This cries out to be served neat over ice or in a Negroni cocktail, but why not try it with a mixer such as ginger beer, or in a warming hot punch with fortified wine, fruits, cloves and spices.

Score

7.9
