David T Smith – 8.1

Nose: A clean and crisp nose of bright, piney juniper accompanied by a soft earthiness and then a sweet duskiness akin to cocoa powder.

Palate: Lots of earthiness upfront – soft and sweet liquorice root and a gentle, floral note of violet, similar to orris root. This gradually develops into a lively citrus flavour.

Finish: Lime with a little lemon and a touch of resinous pine.

Comments: A crisp and refreshing gin, well-placed to be mixed with tonic or soda water.

Felicity Murray – 8.6

Nose: Piney juniper notes to the fore with ripe citrus fruits and rooty botanicals – orris, cassia bark and angelica.

Palate: Gentle and well rounded, full of juicy citrus flavours. Well balanced and refreshing.

Finish: Long with lemon and lime at first, then an additional mix of grassy, herbal flavours.

Comments: A very well made gin. Easy to drink and perfect for gin based cocktails such as a classic dry martini. If taken long, try with a light or Mediterranean tonic and a sprig of rosemary.
