David T. Smith – 9.1
Nose: A fantastic nose that bursts forth from the glass with notes of chamomile and honeysuckle with honey and a gentle, sweet spice.
Palate: A complex gin with a lovely interplay of all of the ingredients. There are floral hay notes, along with cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by citrus.
Finish: Crunchy vegetal notes – green and fresh – that work well with lingering notes of juniper.
Comments: A lovely all-rounder with an excellent character and a “something for everyone” approach.
Felicity Murray – 8.1
Nose: Fresh and bright with a good balance of resinous pine, earthy angelica, ripe citrus fruits and herb gardens in flower, plus a hint of beeswax polish.
Palate: Bold and intense, slightly peppery but with a sweet berry juiciness that evolves into a smooth and creamy gooseberry fool.
Finish: Smooth and sharp like rhubarb and custard, satisfyingly long lasting.
Comments: Bring out the herbal bouquet with sage or mint leaves to garnish or enhance the fruitiness with seasonal berries.
