Nose: Whisky-like malt with hints of red wine, vanilla and freshly-baked beer bread with a spot of crème brûlée.

Palate: Sweet honey and toasted caramel – silky and indulgent. Notes of brown sugar gradually make way for flavours of dry botanicals and clean spirit.

Finish: Warmth from the alcohol with notes of dry vine fruit and brioche rolls.

Comments: A relatively sweet spirit that is best suited to mixing. It would work well in drinks containing red vermouth such as a Negroni.

Score

7.0

Nose: Enticing top notes of freshly cut hay with honey and spice. Coriander, cardamom, vanilla and cinnamon spices mingle with juniper berries and a touch of rosemary and thyme.

Palate: Full of flavour with warm, rich, fruit cake spices developing and building along with the bitter sweet twang of orange marmalade.

Finish: Dry and spicy with a citrus tingle. Pleasantly long and satisfying.

Comments: Warm and inviting. Has the guts to mix well in cocktails, such as an Old Fashioned.

Score

8.5
