David T. Smith – 8.4
Nose: Bright, resinous pine; deep and luscious, like the thick canopy of an Alpine forest. Subtle lifts of lemon peel.
Palate: Oily mouthfeel with the spicy citrus of coriander upfront and a good dose of linalool. Lemon crème brûlée, before dry, woody juniper.
Finish: Medium length with black pepper and freshly-split cedar wood.
Comments: A slightly oily gin that leads with wood spice and a splash of citrus. Good mixing potential.
Felicity Murray – 8.7
Nose: Citrus peel and juniper balanced with warm spices, including coriander and cinnamon, and hints of lavender and thyme.
Palate: Rich, fresh and full bodied. The traditional botanicals shine, with juicy fruits at first, followed by a warm spiciness with a bittersweet edge.
Finish: Long, dry and lemony. Juniper lingers on liquorice sweetness.
Comments: A nicely balanced, traditional style gin that deserves to be drunk in a classic dry martini or with a naturally light tonic water. Simply garnish with a twist of lemon peel.
